Located to the north of the state of Quintana Roo and 10 minutes from downtown Playa del Carmen, you will find one of the biggest hydrological systems in the world. It is made up of primarily underground rivers and stalactites and stalagmites created over thousands of years.
“Chaak Tun” is derived from the Mayan “Chac” which translates to Rain, and “Tun”, Stone. The Spanish meaning is stone rain or water that comes from stone.
These stunning cenotes were not accessible to visitors until 1999. Visitors are invited to take a dip in the clear waters of this privileged paradise.
