Punta Sur Ecological Park in Cozumel Mexico is a 247 acre park that includes beaches, reefs, lagoons and the adjacent low lying forest. Punta Sur is also known as the Faro Celerain Eco Park. This is a beautiful ecological reserve where crocodiles live so swimming is absolutely not allowed. Make sure to take extra precautions and note where the swimming and non swimming beach areas are located due to the crocodiles. The beaches that do allow swimming do not allow motorized water equipment making this park an even more tranquil setting. |
You can get to the Celarain Lighthouse and most of the swim beaches which are located about 5 miles away. It's best if you either take a taxi or rent a car. The Celarain lighthouse in the park also has the most amazing views so make sure you stop by there and get some great photo opportunities.
The reef system at Punta Sur is also part of the Arrecifes de Cozumel National Park. This natural state reserve is filled with flora, fauna and lagoon systems. If you’re a nature lover, this is the place for you. There are white sandy beaches, clear turquoise waters, and plenty of sea fan gardens, not to mention the birds, animals, and marine life galore. There is a an observation tower you can go to and view the crocodiles in their natural habitat. The park also has plenty of parking, bathrooms, and showers.
Additionally, the park has Catamaran boat rides, hammocks and beach chairs as well as life vest. For an additional fee, there is snorkel equipment rentals and kayaks. There is even a spa, restaurant and bar on site.
