The Mayan word Holbox translates to “black hole”. This small beautiful island is a protected area located on the north side of Playa del Carmen and it covers 26 miles long and 1.25 miles wide. It’s connected to the mainland by a sandbar with several channels that connect the Yalahau lagoon with the Caribbean Sea. |
